Washington Map - Below is a partial map of Washington focusing on the National Mall. It is a fairly easy city to navigate as it is on a grid system with the Capitol at its center. The city is subsequently divided into four quadrants: Northeast (NE), Northwest (NW), Southeast (SE) and Southwest (SW). Remember to pay attention to the quadrant designation. Around the Capitol is North Capitol Street, South Capitol Street and East Capitol Street. There is no West Capitol Street as that is where the National Mall is located. Constitution Avenue to the North and Independence Avenue to the south are the streets that are on the fringe of the National Mall.
