Washington
Flight - As the nation’s capitol, obtaining
a flight to Washington is fairly easy. Nearly every
domestic airline and most international airlines service
Washington. As a result, obtaining an economical flight
to Washington is not difficult. However since Washington
is a “must see” for both domestic travellers
as well as international travellers, it is advisable
to book your flight to Washington as early as possible.
Be sure to check the internet for special fares to
Washington.
There are three major airports which service the
Washington metropolitan area: Regan National
Airport (“National”), Dulles
International Airport (“Dulles”)
and Baltimore Washington International Airport
(“BWI”). National is located closest to
Washington, in Arlington, Virginia. However with the
exception of a few flights to Canada, this airport
handles only domestic air travel.
Dulles
is located about twenty-five miles outside of Washington
and is served by most Domestic and International
Airlines. BWI is located about forty-five
miles outside of Washington, in Baltimore, Maryland
and is served by both domestic and international airlines.
Each airport is connected to Washington via public
transportation, though some of the airports are more
convenient to access than others.
Since September 11, security has been increased in
all three Washington Airports, so
leave yourself plenty of time prior to boarding your
plane to deal with long security lines. In addition,
on all Washington Flights landing
at National, twenty-five minutes prior to the flight’s
arrival no passenger is allowed to stand up on the
plane. So needless to say plan all bathroom breaks
and access to any overhead luggage accordingly.
